This year, IIDA Leaders Breakfast (Leaders) will return to in-person events hosted by cities across North America after last year’s successful Leaders Virtual. The annual series of events celebrates the importance of design in the global marketplace and honors seasoned and emerging industry professionals who are shaping the legacy of design.
Launched in New York in 1989 by Jeannie Bochette of Steelcase, the IIDA Leaders Breakfast series began as a single event. The goal was to introduce IIDA to the business world as a leading association of commercial interior design and to educate members on major issues affecting designers and the industry. The event established a forum where members and their clients could participate, and network with their peers.
2022’s series of events kicked off with the New York Leaders Breakfast on May 12 co-hosted by John Sadlon, Managing Principal Workplace at Perkins&Will, and Anne Drysdale, Strategic Relationship Executive at MillerKnoll. Featuring keynote speaker Leyla Acaroglu, the UnSchool and Disrupt Design CEO and Founder, and honoring Perkins&Will Principal Jennifer Graham IIDA, LEED AP.
Next up in the series this year are the Houston Leaders Breakfast on August 26, honoring Principal Managing Director of Gensler’s Houston Office Stephanie Burritt IIDA, NCIDQ, RID and featuring keynote speaker Scott Dikkers, founder of iconic comedy empire The Onion; and the San Francisco Leaders Breakfast on September 9, honoring Senior Principal and Senior Project Interior Designer for HOK, San Francisco Donald Cremers, IIDA, and featuring keynote speaker Jane McGonigal, world-renowned game designer and inventor.
