IIDA Student membership is designed for the interior design student interested in professional development opportunities and expanding their professional network within the design industry.

Member Dues

All IIDA memberships run on the calendar year, January through December.

2021 Calendar Year Student Dues: $60

We offer a special rate exclusively to graduating IIDA Student members who wish to upgrade to an Associate membership. Reach out to membership@iida.org for details.


You qualify for the IIDA Student membership if you are currently enrolled in an interior design program at any university, institute of higher education, or accredited school of interior design.
Your application must include proof of enrollment which can be one of the following:

  • Copy of your current class schedule generated by your school and including your name
  • Photocopy of your current school ID
  • Copy of your transcript
  • Confirmation of enrollment from a professor including their printed name and signature

In addition to our member benefits, IIDA Student Members have access to exceptional resources for education and professional development. Your membership is designed to give you unique opportunities to be involved in leadership roles and build your professional connections before graduation. Members have exclusive access to the IIDA Mentoring Program, IIDA Campus Centers, and QUAD, the IIDA student newsletter. You’ll also have the ability to participate in design competitions, scholarship opportunities, and awards; and has access to publications and research that offer industry thought-leadership, innovative design, and news and events.

Student Mentoring Program

The IIDA Student Mentoring Program provides our student members with the opportunity to create a career-lasting mentorship with interior design professionals across the industry. You'll be hand-matched with a local or regional professional whose experience aligns with your interests for a full day of job shadowing giving your access to some of the most dynamic designers and firms practicing today.

IIDA Campus Centers

Form or be active in an IIDA Campus Center to connect with students, educators, and administrators on your campus. You'll work closely with your local IIDA chapter on programming, educational opportunities, and events while gaining valuable leadership opportunities and professional connections.

QUAD the IIDA Newsletter

QUAD is designed exclusively for our IIDA Student members keeping you up to date on competition and awards programs with opportunities for cash prizes and peer recognition, campus center events, and much, much, more. QUAD is your quarterly resource for IIDA programs and opportunities just for you.

Wilsonart Essay Competition

The Wilsonart Essay Competition recognizes IIDA Student members working towards an interior design degree with plans to pursue a career in the field. Only students participating in the Student Mentoring Program are eligible to enter the competition by submitting an original essay reflecting on their mentoring experience.

The winner will receive $1,000 courtesy of the Wilsonart Education Fund. Wilsonart will also provide roundtrip airfare and two-night hotel stay in Chicago during NeoCon 2021. The student will also be featured on the IIDA website, the biweekly e-newsletter DesignMatters, and in the IIDA Student Member quarterly e-newsletter, QUAD.
