New Bill Demonstrates Collaborative Industry Efforts to Provide Certified Interior Designers with Legal Recognition

HARRISBURG, Pa. (November 21, 2024) – The Consortium for Interior Design celebrates the passage of Senate Bill 1319, which amends the Architects Licensure Law to provide for certification of qualified interior designers. It was signed into law on October 31 by Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as Act 144 of 2024. This legislative effort, led by the Interior Design Legislative Coalition of Pennsylvania (IDLCPA), provides certified interior designers with a protected title within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. By codifying this legislation, Pennsylvania acknowledges the critical role interior designers have in helping protect occupant health, safety, and well-being, confirming the key role interior design plays in the built environment.

CHICAGO (November 15, 2024) — The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is honored to announce the winners of the second annual design competitions: the IIDA/WestEdge Design Fair Product Awards and the IIDA/WestEdge Design Fair Booth Awards. Winners of the Product Awards are recognized for excellence in aesthetics, design, creativity, and function, as well as the suitability of the design solution to the product challenge. Winners of the Booth Awards are awarded for their originality and visual impact with emphasis on materials, space, color, texture, lighting, and graphics. All entries were evaluated by a panel of distinguished design industry experts during the WestEdge Design Fair Los Angeles showcase.

CHICAGO (November 11, 2024) — International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is excited to announce the Transformation and Innovation Award winner and the Best of Competition winner for the 2024 IIDA Healthcare Design Awards. The Transformation and Innovation Award winner is IKM Architecture for the Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Forbes Hospital Emergency Department Behavioral Health Suite (Monroeville, PA). This year’s Best of Competition winner is Perkins&Will for the Whitman-Walker Health, Max Robinson Center (Washington, D.C.).
