The IIDA Dallas Leaders Breakfast looks to connect the diverse group of professionals in our industry, celebrating design excellence through our 2026 Leadership Award of Excellence honoree and Emerging Leader honoree with a keynote speaker who will offer a motivational and thought-provoking presentation. Leaders Breakfast is our opportunity to put our chapter’s core values, Connect, Community, Advocate, Cultivate and Aspire on center stage!

The IIDA Leaders Breakfast is an annual event series that celebrates design’s importance in the global marketplace by honoring the people who are both the legacy and future of design. This is made possible through the support of IIDA Headquarters, International Benefactor MillerKnoll, and Media Partner Interior Design. 

Leadership Award of Excellence Honoree

Carly Herrera
Owner and Managing Principal, BHA Studio

Herrera brings impressive design knowledge, extensive experience, and innovative solutions to address her clients’ diverse design needs and challenges. Her project expertise encompasses a broad spectrum, from initial project programming and design conceptualization to meticulous construction documentation and on-site observation. Herrera takes great pride in her exceptional ability to connect with clients, understanding their unique needs and preferences, and translating them into functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces. Her commitment to fostering strong client relationships ensures that each project is a true reflection of their vision and lifestyle.

In addition to her interior design skills, Herrera has helped raise money for community charities, including Mavs Foundation, CASA and DCAC.  Carly is married and the mother of two young men. She is often attending track meets for her youngest Eli and enjoys having her oldest, Alex, close to home while studying at UTA. Herrera and her husband John like to travel and are avid Disney fans.

Cailey Wingate
Registered Interior Designer, SmithGroup

Wingate is a registered interior designer and 30 Under 30 honoree who brings a strategic, people-centered approach to projects across corporate interiors, higher education, and hospitality. She believes successful design should do more than look beautiful—it should support how people work, learn, gather, and connect while advancing each client’s broader goals.

Wingate enjoys both supporting larger project teams and independently leading projects from defining initial needs and developing concepts through coordinating details and seeing spaces come to life. She is drawn to the collaborative nature of design and building strong relationships with clients and project teams. Her problem-solving, collaborative, and business-minded perspective informs her work and her interest in creating meaningful value for people and organizations. An active member of the design community, Wingate has served on the IIDA Council as Graphics Chair, using her design and graphic design skills to support events and initiatives while engaging in professional development, industry connections, community, and mentorship.
