IIDA ANNOUNCES TWO BEST OF COMPETITION RECIPIENTS FOR ANNUAL AWARDS SERIES
CHICAGO — On January 18, IIDA celebrated the winners of two international design competitions during a special reception in Paris at Le Brand Store BMW George V.
The 2019 Global Excellence Awards Best of Competition award was presented to DOMANI Architectural Concepts for its UR Shanghai flagship store. Additionally, ikg inc., in partnership with Maike Investment Holdings Group, received the Best of Competition award for this year’s Best of Asia Pacific Design Awards for the YJY Maike Centre flagship (store).
“Both of the award recipients represent the highest caliber of interior design currently being produced around the world,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “The winning spaces are unexpected, people-centric, and original, with fresh takes on design traditions. We are proud to be presenting these two firms the Best of Competition awards.”
The Global Excellence Awards honor and celebrate outstanding originality and excellence in the creation of international interior design and interior architecture projects. DOMANI Architectural Concepts was chosen from 18 winners in 12 categories with submissions from 22 countries. In addition to being named Best of Competition winner, DOMANI also won in the category of Retail.
“DOMANI’s UR Shanghai flagship store is a fresh and surprising twist on traditional retail space,” said Elizabeth Lowrey, IIDA, RDI, on behalf of the jury. “A deserving winning project overall, we appreciated the elegance of the space in addition to the adaptive reuse of the existing building.”
IIDA is grateful to the Global Excellence Awards co-presenting sponsor, Designworks, a BMW group company.
