CHICAGO — IIDA proudly announces LSD Interior Design as the Best of Competition winner for the 2021 Best of Asia Pacific Design Awards for Xi’an Fangsuo Commune in Xi’an, China. The competition honors and celebrates the highest level of design excellence in interior architecture projects throughout the Asia Pacific region.

“This year’s award winner exemplified creativity and solution-oriented ideas in a region known for next-generation design,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO, Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “The team at LSD Interior Design embodied a modernized concept that stands out as a landmark building relative to its surroundings.”

Projects were reviewed by a jury of design professionals, including Pembroke Vice President, Head of Interior Design Angie Lee, FIIDA, AIA; SHIM Projects Design Director and Principal, Annhy Shim-Morel, Assoc. IIDA; and Shimoda Design Group Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Joey Shimoda, FIIDA, FAIA.

“Xi’an Fangsuo Commune was highly impressive with its prominent façade and interior, as well as its connection to the local culture,” said Shim-Morel on behalf of the jury. “The project extends beyond the typical bookstore experience and encompasses design excellence.”
