IIDA ANNOUNCES MATRIX DESIGN AS THE 6^TH ANNUAL BEST OF ASIA PACIFIC DESIGN AWARDS BEST OF COMPETITION WINNER

CHICAGO, IL - IIDA proudly announces Matrix Design as the Best of Competition winner of the 2018 Best of Asia Pacific Design Awards for the Dongguan Timesgroup Tianjing Club in Dongguan, China. This competition honors and celebrates the highest level of design excellence in interior design/interior architecture projects throughout the Asia Pacific region.

“In a region extolled for next-generation design, this year’s award winners exemplified the future of engaging, human-centric environments,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “The team at Matrix Design embodied this throughout its project, approaching each element with a high level of sophistication and creating a sense of anticipation flowing from one space to the next.”

Projects were reviewed by a panel of design professionals, including Michael Byun, IIDA, ASID, associate director and interior design leader, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP; Angie Lee, IIDA, AIA, principal, design director – interiors, FXCollaborative; and Billy Quimby, principal, BAMO.

“The Dongguan Timesgroup Tianjing Club incorporates an unexpected elevation of expanded metal mesh as a luxury backdrop, which serves as a true testament to the design team’s ability to effectively utilize material and establish creative solutions,” said Lee on behalf of the jury.

The Best of Competition winner was announced at an awards presentation and reception at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong on December 7. All winners, including Best of Competition, will be featured in Contract magazine’s December issue, on the IIDA website, and in the official Winners Brochure.
