IIDA ANNOUNCES SHANGHAI HIP-POP ARCHITECTURAL DECORATION DESIGN CO., LTD AS THE 8th ANNUAL GLOBAL EXCELLENCE AWARDS BEST IN COMPETITION WINNER

CHICAGO - The International Interior Design Association (IIDA), in collaboration with Designworks, a BMW Group Company, is pleased to honor Shanghai Hip-pop Architectural Decoration Design Co., Ltd. with the 8th Annual Global Excellence Awards Best in Competition Award for its project, Setsugekka Japanese Cuisine in Changchun, China.

Shanghai Hip-pop Architectural Decoration Design Co., Ltd. was also recognized in the Restaurants, Lounges & Bars category of the Global Excellence Awards. The design firm was celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at an awards ceremony at Le Brand Store BMW George V. in Paris alongside 23 additional winning projects.

“The collection of superlative international design projects submitted this year provided a great deal of competition for the ‘Best in Competition’ Global Excellence Award selection. However, Shanghai Hip-pop Architectural Decoration Design Co., Ltd., stood out among the rest,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP. “The representation of the various seasons and extensive layering throughout the space made this project simply unforgettable.”

Projects were reviewed by a panel of design professionals, including: Malcolm Berg, IIDA, president and design director, EoA, Inc.; Stephanie Cardinal, president, humà design + architecture; Danielle Fox, principal designer, Rodrigo Vargas Design; Johannes Lampela, director of design, Designworks LA, a BMW Group Company; and Geno Yun, AIA, LEED AP, principal, ELS Architecture and Urban Design.

“The splashes of vivid blue, yellow and pink point to classic Japanese art traditions of representing the seasons that, together with the overall aesthetic and layout of the space, influence patrons’ thoughts and behaviors – creating a feeling of zen,” said Lampela, on behalf of the judges. “Shanghai Hip-pop Architectural Decoration Design Co., Ltd. executed an incredible sensory experience in this ultra-contemporary space.”
