CHICAGO — IIDA is proud to announce Angie Lee, FIIDA as the 2022-2023 president of the IIDA International Board of Directors with Ronnie Belizaire, FIIDA, elevated to the IIDA president-elect. Also elected to the International Board for new terms as vice president are Stacey Crumbaker, IIDA, Mike Johnson II, IIDA, and Jennifer Ruckel, Ind. IIDA.
“Angie has been integral to IIDA’s mission and advocacy of the design profession, with a commendable leadership style that especially pays attention to and supports the women of our industry,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “We’re honored to welcome Angie and Ronnie as the new leaders of IIDA for this coming term.”
All international board members will be inaugurated at the IIDA Annual Meeting on Sunday, June 12 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, 220 E. Chicago Ave., Chicago.

Lee, a registered architect in New York, leads an award-winning interiors practice, providing strategic vision and oversight for interior environments across a wide range of scales in both commercial and residential project types. With over 28 years of experience, Lee uses a multifaceted approach that integrates emotional design narrative, technical precision, and artistic intuition in her work. Born in Seoul, Korea, and raised in the Midwest by parents who promoted science and music, Lee continues to meld art and technology in her approach to architecture and interior design.

Belizaire is an experienced project manager and designer with over five million square feet of architectural, interiors, and industrial projects managed and delivered during her 13-year career. In her prior role as corporate real estate manager for Daimler, Belizaire’s business acumen and design expertise helped guide the company’s organizational goals through the strategic positioning of corporate real estate assets in the Americas. She is a dedicated IIDA volunteer whose previous service includes IIDA Georgia Chapter President from 2013-2014 and IIDA Foundation Chair from 2017-2019.

Practicing at the intersection of architecture and interiors, Crumbaker brings a unique perspective and expertise to the design of educational facilities. With more than 15 years of experience, she has cultivated her practice as a response to human experience and deeply believes in design's ability to shape community. Crumbaker was one of five nationwide recipients awarded the 2020 AIA Associates Award. This award is given to Associate AIA members who are outstanding leaders and creative thinkers; recognizing their significant contributions to their communities and the architecture profession. Crumbraker received a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and a Master of Architecture from Arizona State University.

Mike Johnson II is an associate principal and director of interior design at Hickok Cole in Washington, D.C. Licensed as both an architect and interior designer, his award-winning designs have focused on providing creative solutions for interior spaces that support health, wellness, culture, and brand. His belief is that design is a thoughtful process which creates a unique solution for each client. Johnson’s clients include corporate workplace design, trade floor facilities, higher education, and building repositioning throughout the country. Johnson is the past president of IIDA’s Mid-Atlantic Chapter, served on the board as an advisor for equity, diversity, and inclusion, co-founded the chapters leadership development program for young professionals, and was featured in IIDA’s Perspective magazine article “The Instagram Effect.”

Jennifer Ruckel has 20 years of experience as a sales professional and leader in the design and architectural products industry. Ruckel leads four sales channels: the company’s architecture and design consultants, global distribution, dealer partnerships, and national account sales teams, and she has developed high-performance sales teams, international sales channels, dealer development programs, and e-commerce strategies. Ruckel is interested in the impact design has on its occupants and the changing needs of our society. She is a lifelong member of IIDA and NEWH and has served in leadership roles including President of NEWH Rocky Mountain Chapter. Ruckel is an active participant in the design community and is a frequent contributor and guest of leading design blogs, podcasts, and award shows. She loves to connect with her network, educate others on how design impacts the built environment, and share her interest in sustainability and material health.
