CHICAGO  — IIDA is pleased to announce the finalists for the 49th annual Interior Design Competition and the historic 30th annual Will Ching Design Competition. The Interior Design Competition honors creativity and innovation within the industry, while the Will Ching Design Competition, celebrating its momentous 30th year, highlights outstanding commercial design from firms with five employees or fewer.

“Each year, IIDA is given the distinct pleasure of honoring some of the most talented and inventive minds in the world of design,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO, Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “As we celebrate the 30th year of the Will Ching Design Competition, we look to the bright future ahead — a future made possible by the efforts of design teams from small to large that are driving how all of design will soon see the built space.”

Finalists were chosen by a jury including the following distinguished design experts: Kuchar Studio Owner and Creative Director, Sarah Kuchar-Parkinson, IIDA; Leyden Lewis Design Studio Founder and Creative Director, Leyden Lewis; and Wimberly Interiors SVP and Global Director, Margaret McMahon.

“There’s certainly no shortage of ingenuity in our industry, especially at a time when nearly every space we all touch is in a state of reinvention,” said Kuchar-Parkinson on behalf of the jury. “We feel confident that these chosen finalists represent the best creativity and talent our industry has to offer. It’s an exciting time to be a designer, and those selected offer hope for the future.”
