CHICAGO — The International Interior Design Association
(IIDA) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 Student Design Competition, sponsored by OFS and Carolina. The annual competition allows design students to highlight their creativity and vision while also gathering insights and experience with leaders of the industry. This year’s design challenge asked entrants to design an innovative pediatric primary care clinic focusing on behavioral health.

“We believe opportunities like the Student Design Competition are one of the key paths to expanding students’ ability to grow professionally and showcase their emerging skills to the industry,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO, Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “These students are design's next generation, and IIDA's active collaboration with partners like OFS and Carolina helps them build their future through a design challenge that is a rigorous, forward-thinking, portfolio building exercise.”

Entries were judged by a panel of design professionals including Gensler LFA Designer and IIDA Oregon President-Elect Peter Harrison, Assoc. IIDA; HKS Global Sector Director, Interiors, Ana Pinto-Alexander, FIIDA; CannonDesign Principal & Co-Director, Health Interiors (Ret.), Jocelyn Stroupe, IIDA, ASID; and OFS National Accounts Director, Healthcare, Natalie Thomas, IIDA.

“The jury was excited to review and see such a diverse and creative group of submissions for this year’s competition,” said Harrison on behalf of the jury. “Designing for the healthcare setting must take a lot of factors into account and can be daunting for the designer. However, these winning projects went above and beyond – standing out in their thoughtfulness and allure.”
