IIDA TO INAUGURATE SASCHA WAGNER AS 2020-2021 INTERNATIONAL BOARD PRESIDENT AND ADDITIONAL NEW BOARD MEMBERS IN LATE MAY


CHICAGO
— IIDA is proud to announce Sascha Wagner, FIIDA as the 2020-2021 president of the IIDA International Board of Directors. Angie Lee, IIDA, has been elected 2020-2021 president-elect. Also elected to the International Board for new terms as vice presidents are George Bandy, Industry IIDA; Gabrielle Bullock, IIDA; Diana Farmer-Gonzalez, IIDA; Fiona Grandowski, IIDA; Jon Otis, IIDA; and Amy Storek, Industry IIDA.

“Sascha has long been instrumental in the development and leadership of IIDA. In his previous role as the president-elect, he demonstrated strong community engagement, advocacy of the design profession, and significant industry guidance,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “We are excited to welcome him and Angie as the new leaders of IIDA for this coming term.”

All Board members will be inaugurated on May 27.

Wagner is dedicated to creating meaningful experiences for people, organizations, and communities through the power of design. As president and CEO of Huntsman Architectural Group, his focus lies at the intersection of inspiring design and effective business management. He develops strategy, process, partnerships, and business opportunities for the firm’s offices in San Francisco, New York, and Chicago and has spearheaded significant projects for many of Huntsman’s portfolio clients. He is a constant advocate for the design profession through his involvement in IIDA and other professional organizations.

As principal and design director of interiors at FXCollaborative, Lee leads the award-winning interiors practice, providing strategic vision and oversight for interior environments across a wide range of scales and project types in corporate, commercial, and residential settings. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Lee grew up in the Midwest and studied at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and Ecoles d’Art Americaines in Paris. She is a registered architect in New York and serves on the editorial advisory board of Contract.

IIDA Georgia Chapter

In his most recent role as Chief Sustainability Officer, Bandy Jr. was responsible for managing the comprehensive concepts and practices of sustainability throughout Mohawk Flooring North America and its family of brands. In June 2020, he will be transitioning to a new executive leadership role with a global hospitality brand, where he will proactively identify opportunities to position environmental, economic, and socially responsible solutions for the organization and its guests. He will also oversee all aspects of inclusion and equity, as well as the organization’s philanthropic and charitable pursuits. Bandy is an accomplished presenter on the business of sustainability, biophilic design, social sustainability, circular economy, greening the supply chain, and other key topics. He is a Past Chair of the USGBC and a recipient of its 2018 USGBC Leadership Award.

Gabrielle Bullock, IIDA

IIDA Southern California Chapter

Bullock oversees Perkins and Will’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Engagement program, a role that enables her to combine her passion for architecture and social justice to effect positive change at a micro and macro level. Bullock graduated in 1984 from the Rhode Island School of Design with degrees in fine arts and architecture, becoming the second African American woman in history to earn an architecture degree from that university. In 2014, she was elected by her peers as a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and served on AIA’s Equity in Architecture Commission.

Diana Farmer-Gonzalez, IIDA

IIDA South Florida Chapter

Farmer-Gonzalez has led interior design and architecture projects throughout South Florida as well as South and Central America. Passionate about mentoring young designers, Farmer- Gonzalez does so at Gensler as well as through design education, including teaching at Florida International University’s College of Architecture + The Arts, where she also serves on the Leadership Advisory Board. Diana is an active member of AIA and IIDA and she was named Interior Designer of the Year by the AIA Miami Chapter. Farmer-Gonzalez has a B.S. in Interior Design from Florida International University.

Fiona Grandowski, IIDA

As a principal and firm owner at Collins Cooper Carusi Architects (CCCA), Grandowski is involved in all strategic planning initiatives at the organization. In her role, she combines an understanding of the different ways in which individuals learn, work, and play with her knowledge of interior architecture, furnishings, and materials, to further enhance the built environment. She has held various leadership positions within and outside of IIDA including as a leader of the IIDA Georgia Chapter and a member of the Interior Design Advisory Board at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, from which she holds a BArch.

Jon Otis, IIDA

IIDA New York Chapter

Otis is the founder and principal of Object Agency (O|A), a multidisciplinary design studio and design strategy agency, whose work ranges from interior architecture and design, exhibition design, branding and visual communications, product design, web/media design, and strategic consulting. Otis is also a tenured professor at the Pratt Institute where he has taught for 20 years. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Moravian College and a master’s degree in design from the University of Massachusetts. He was named 2009 Design Intelligence Most Admired Educator and was the 2017 IIDA Educator of the Year.

Amy Storek, Industry IIDA

Pivot Interiors
IIDA Northern California Chapter

Storek is responsible for leading all revenue-related functions at Pivot Interiors including sales, marketing, design, and customer support across six Northern and Southern California locations and all vertical markets. She has over 20 years of experience in the design and commercial furniture industry, combining sales enablement, process innovation, and continuous improvement to transform the way people live, work, heal, and learn. Storek is a graduate of UC Berkeley with a background in architecture and interior design and has previously held leadership positions for companies such as Vitra and Haworth.
