IIDA Announces Winners of Two Prestigious Design Competitions

CHICAGO —The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is honored to announce the winners of the 51st annual Interior Design Competition and the 32nd annual Will Ching Design Competition. The Interior Design Competition, recognizes creativity and innovation within the global interior design industry, paired with the Will Ching Design Competition that highlights outstanding commercial design from firms with ten employees or fewer.

“All of our winners demonstrate masterful execution and immersive designs, setting a high bar for the selection of Best of Competition,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO, Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “With every year of this distinguished award, we are proud to see designers and industry from around world embrace and celebrate what design can achieve and the professionals that form it.”

Winners were chosen by a jury including the following distinguished design experts: Deture Culsign Principal, Kimshasa Balwin; Maison Fee Founder, Chrissy Fehan; and Graham Design Founder and Creative Director, Brian Graham, IIDA, IDSA.

“When looking at these winning projects there is a certain effortlessness that comes across, yet you understand the tremendous effort it took to craft the designs we are seeing,” said Graham on behalf of the jury. “To win this competition, it is a testament to the unbelievably complex amount of elements that design professionals are tasked with intaking and synthesizing to produce this amazing body of work.”

Project: FRACTAL CHAPEL at State Hospital Graz, Graz, Austria
Firm: INNOCAD architecture, Graz, Austria

Retail (stores, boutiques)
Project: Dannong Store (The MixC, Taiyuan), Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, China
Firm: LUO studio, Beijing

Showrooms & Exhibition Spaces
Project: SEMAR New Product Launch Exhibition Hall, Guangzhou City, China
Firm: One & One Design Consulting (Shanghai) Co., Ltd, Shanghai

The Will Ching Design Competition winners include:

The winners of both competitions will be honored in person at Revel in Design, IIDA’s premier design celebration, on Sunday, June 8 at the Four Seasons Chicago.
