IIDA Announces Best of Competition Winners for 2025 Best of Asia Pacific Awards and 2025 Global Excellence Awards

CHICAGO—IIDA is pleased to announce the Best of Competition winners for two international design competitions: the 2025 Best of Asia Pacific Design Awards and the 2025 Global Excellence Awards. In an exceptional showing, W.DESIGN has secured the top honor across both programs for the Deqin Meri Poodom Hotel in Dequin, China.

“The winning project, drawn from the hotel category in each respective award, highlights how design can transcend aesthetics to become a deeply transformative experience,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO, Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “These designers masterfully harmonized this space with its specific geographic context, resulting in a sanctuary that feels less like a structure and more like an organic extension of its landscape.”

The Best of Asia Pacific Awards winners, including the Best of Competition, were chosen by a jury of design professionals including Alda Ly Architecture Founder and Principal, Alda Ly; HKS Global Director, Principal, and Senior Vice President, Brett Shwery, FIIDA; TPG Architecture Managing Executive, Suzette Subance Ferrier, IIDA.

The Global Excellence Award winners, including Best of Competition, were chosen by a jury of design professionals including Vocon Senior Associate, Design Director, Ann Marie Krol, IIDA; Design Chair of Interior Design and Preservation Design at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Christine Van Duyn; Corgan Principal, Studio Leader – Workplace, Joyce Fownes, IIDA.

“The fully immersive design and inspiration can be felt throughout the facility through the play on light, ice, and art,” said Krol on behalf of the jury. “The play on pattern, textures, and forms reinforces the concept and takes you on a journey through the exhibition center from arrival to retreat.”

The Best of Competition winners were announced and honored at a special celebration on February 14, 2026 at the L’Atelier des Abbessess in Paris and can be viewed on IIDA.org.
