IIDA Announces 2026-2027 Board of Directors

CHICAGO – IIDA is proud to announce Bill Bouchey, FIIDA as the 2026-2027 president of the IIDA International Board of Directors, with Mike Johnson II, FIIDA, AIA, NOMA elevated to IIDA president-elect. Also elected to the International Board for new terms as vice president are Christina Gonano, IIDA, RID; Jennifer C. Graham, FIIDA; and Natalie Hartkopf, Ind. IIDA, CDF.

“We are privileged to have such a smart and talented group of professionals on IIDA’s board of directors, and deeply appreciate their service to the practice of design,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO, Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. She adds, “Bill’s design vision has truly shaped our understanding of the modern workplace, placing human experience at its core. With decades of leadership in commercial interior design, he is an exceptional and highly deserving choice as board president.”

All international board members will be officially inaugurated at the IIDA Annual Meeting on Sunday, June 7 at WorkLife Meetings at The Mart, 222 W. Merchandise Mart Plaza, Chicago.

President (2026-2027) Bill Bouchey, FIIDA

IIDA Southern California Chapter

With more than 30 years of experience, Bouchey is an exceptional design leader in all areas of commercial interior design. He is a published, award-winning designer with a passion for collaboration, visioning, conceptualizing, and storytelling. His designs are both tasteful and functional, and respect the client’s design ambitions within a stated budget. He provides creative leadership for each design team, sets quality standards, develops the design concepts, and maintains design concept integrity throughout design development, through completion.

He has volunteered with IIDA for more than 15 years in programs aiding emerging professionals such as panels, student dialogue, mentoring, shadowing, portfolio workshops, and competition juries/award programs. Additionally, he has served as Co-Chair of the NYC Leaders Breakfast Committee.

IIDA Mid-Atlantic Chapter

Licensed as both an architect and interior designer, Johnson’s award-winning designs have focused on providing creative solutions for interior spaces that support health, wellness, culture, equity, diversity, inclusion, and brand. His belief is that design is a thoughtful process through captivating storytelling which creates a unique solution for each client. His clients include corporate workplace design, trade floor facilities, higher education and building repositioning throughout the country.

He is on IIDA’s International Board of Directors as a Vice President, served as a Past President of IIDA’s Mid-Atlantic Chapter, co-founded the Mid-Atlantic Chapters leadership development program for young professionals and was featured in IIDA’s Perspective magazine article “The Instagram Effect”.

Vice President - Christina Gonano, IIDA, RID

Professor of Interior Design, Savannah College of Art and Design
IIDA Georgia Chapter

Gonano is a Registered Interior Designer (RID) in the state of Georgia, bringing extensive leadership experience and academic expertise to the field. As a Past President of the IIDA Georgia Chapter, she has demonstrated her commitment to advancing the interior design profession through strategic initiatives and community engagement. Over the years, she has taken on several additional roles within the chapter, including Coastal Empire Membership Leader and Coastal Empire City Center Director — work that keeps her focused on growing and connecting the design community in the Savannah area.

In addition to her professional leadership roles, Gonano shares her expertise and passion for design as a Professor of Interior Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). At SCAD, she helps shape the next generation of interior designers by incorporating real-world experience and industry insights into the classroom. Her dual roles in professional practice and academia uniquely position Gonano to bridge the gap between design education and industry demands, ensuring that emerging designers are well-prepared for the evolving challenges of the profession.

Vice President - Jennifer C. Graham, FIIDA

Managing Principal, Perkins&Will
IIDA New York Chapter

Graham has delivered multiple award-winning, high-profile projects for over 30 years. Her success comes from a unique approach to leadership that builds mentorship into the process. She creates and upholds a supportive, positive, and empathetic work environment for her teams. Jennifer is also a respected voice within Perkins&Will’s New York studio and the design industry. She leads the studio’s Social Responsibility Initiative and is a bold champion for DEI, circularity, and sustainability, bringing these priorities to the forefront of her client work and community service.

As an industry leader, she currently serves as IIDA NY’s Vice President of Action and Catalyst Chair. She was appointed AIA NY Public Director in 2024 and, in 2025, appointed to the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA).

In 2021, she was recognized as one of Architizer’s 100 Women to Watch in Architecture and received the honor of FIIDA. In May 2022, she received the prestigious IIDA NY Leadership Award of Excellence and an honorary doctorate from the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID), her alma mater. In 2024, Graham was named Community Champion for visionary leadership, community service, and contributions to design, equity, and advocacy by Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) and Bronx District 11.

Vice President - Natalie Hartkopf, Industry IIDA, CDF

IIDA Northern Pacific Chapter

Hartkopf is the co-founder and CEO of Hightower, a forward-thinking U.S. commercial furniture manufacturer founded in 2003. Hightower is a family-founded and women-led business. Under Hartkopf’s leadership and efforts, Hightower’s in-house brand, Hightower Studio, became a certified B Corp in 2023, one of only a handful of commercial manufacturers to achieve this important designation.

Hartkopf is integral in Hightower leading the charge on creating an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy. She has pioneered the company's sustainability efforts to consistently deliver high-quality furniture using toxin-free materials throughout the Hightower supply chain and is dedicated to investing in its employees. Hartkopf was recognized as Interior Design magazine’s 2024 HiP Leader of the Year and listed on the MO 100, a Top Impact CEO Ranking from Big Path Capital for the last three years.
