CHICAGO — IIDA is proud to announce the winners of the 2020 IIDA Global Excellence Awards, which honor originality and creativity in international interior design and interior architecture projects across 14 categories. This year’s Best of Competition winner is EVD for its work on the firm’s office in Shanghai.
“We’re honored to announce this year’s IIDA Global Excellence Award winners who truly exemplify original design thinking from all over the world,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “The creativity and conviction of the 2020 winners is truly remarkable. We were particularly moved by EVD’s work on its own office, where the team achieved an incredibly harmonious, contemporary workplace within a restricted space.“
The winners and Best of Competition recipient were chosen by a jury of design experts, including Elizabeth Lowrey, IIDA, principal, director of interior architecture, Elkus Manfredi Architects; Alexandra “Sandy” McGill, lead designer, Designworks, a BMW Group Company; and Sascha Wagner, FIIDA, AIA, president and CEO, Huntsman Architectural Group and international board president of IIDA.
“The design team at EVD created a stunning workplace blending classical architectural elements with modern approaches to create a sense of eternity,” said Lowrey on behalf of the jury. “The design expertly harnesses natural light to emphasize a feeling of sacredness and clarity throughout the space.”
