CHICAGO — IIDA is pleased to announce the finalists of two of its premier interior design competitions: the 48th annual Interior Design Competition, which celebrates achievement in outstanding interior architecture and design, and the 29th annual Will Ching Design Competition, which honors originality and excellence in commercial design from firms with five or fewer employees.

“We are always amazed by the sheer talent showcased by the Will Ching and Interior Design Competitions and this year was no exception,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “This group of finalists has displayed an exemplary focus on community cultivation, true commitment to sustainability, and meticulous attention to detail.”

Finalists were chosen by a jury of design experts, including Katherine S. Ankerson, FIIDA, AIA, dean, College of Architecture, University of Nebraska-Lincoln; Barbara Bouza, FAIA, president, Walt Disney Imagineering, business management, design & development; and Bill Grant, president and chief creative officer, Grant Design Collaborative.

“When reviewing this year’s submissions, we were inspired by the purpose behind each and every detail of the projects,” said Ankerson on behalf of the jury. “These design teams brought new life and unique ideas to every element to their spaces, and we’re looking forward to announcing the winners this summer.”
