• Project Title

  Embrace ASC

  Embrace ASC was designed with the philosophy that an ambulatory surgery center should not only provide professional space for physical treatments but also take care of patients' emotional states. To incorporate this theme, corresponding curves are used as a consistent geometric language throughout the space. Several small seating groups are placed in the exam and surgery waiting areas to enhance conversation and provide patients with a sense of belonging. Recovery bays placed diagonally to be very visible to nursing staff. In the meantime, the bays are still flexible enough to become fully private via manipulation of the curtains. The Embrace ASC community will share a positive experience thanks to thoughtful, environmentally friendly, and human-centric design decisions.

• Project Title

  Synthesis: A Fusion Between Nature & Adaptive Design Elements

  Inspired by the restorative, protective, and dynamic qualities of North Carolina’s wetland marshes, Synthesis is a reimagined approach to healthcare design, fusing aspects of nature and technology to foster a space that embodies both the tranquility and fluidity of this vital ecosystem. The design team believed that integrating a hospitality narrative into a healthcare project could transform an experience, so they created a space designed to delight and engage users yet communicate quality holistic care to patients, families, and staff. To express this, the team centered their design around two key concepts: comfort and choice.

• Project Title

  Ambulatory Surgery Center

  This ambulatory surgery center focuses on biophilic design. The project is built upon research stating that in healthcare design, people who have views, both literal and representative, of nature have shorter postoperative stays, reduced dispersion of pain medication, and experience overall improvements in conditions. Natural light, wood grains, living walls, and colors and patterns connected with nature are incorporated throughout the space to bring the outside world in. The design features a representational wallpaper of a forest, which evidence states can reduce stress and improve pain relief.
