Submission Requirements

For the 2022 essay topic, we're asking minority students to challenge the design industry and education system to make some actual change. In a brief essay of up to 500 words, what actionable steps would you like to see the profession take to make universities and design firms more equitable places, and what changes would have the biggest impact on minority students looking to enter the field?

All submissions must be submitted electronically. Each submission must include your essay and entry form with the following information:

Your name

IIDA Member ID (if a current IIDA Member)

Essay title

Contact information

Name of the university or school you are currently attending

Expected degree and graduation date

Copy of your current school ID

If any of the above documentation is not included, your application will not be reviewed. Any inclusions other than those requested will be removed from your application.

Judging

A select committee of the IIDA Foundation Board of Trustees and IA Interior Architects designers will review the essays and select the recipients who will be notified in March 2022.

Prize

Six (6) total scholarships will be awarded: one $5,000 scholarship, one $3,000 scholarships, and four $500 scholarships.
