Submission Requirements

The IA Interior Architects Diversity in Design scholarship program invites interior design and architecture students to write a brief essay of up to 500 words on the specified topic. For 2023’s scholarship essay, we ask students to share their perspectives on AI as emerging design professionals entering the industry. We're especially interested in its impacts on EDI efforts across the industry; how do we navigate AI’s inherent bias? How do you envision AI impacting the future of design?

Your essay must be submitted digitally through the award website. Each submission must include your essay and entry form with:

Your name
IIDA Member ID (if a current IIDA Member)
Essay title
Contact information
Name of the university or school you are currently attending
Expected degree and graduation date
Copy of your current school ID
If any of the above documentation is not included, your application will not be reviewed. Any inclusions other than those requested will be removed from your application.

Judging

A select committee of the IIDA Foundation Board of Trustees and IA Interior Architects designers will review the essays and select the recipients who will be notified Spring 2024.

Prize

Six (6) total scholarships will be awarded: one $5,000 scholarship, one $3,000 scholarships, and four $500 scholarships.
