Competition Guidelines

Submission Requirements

All submissions must be completed electronically. No hard copy submissions will be accepted. To enter a project into this competition, you will need to prepare and submit the following:

Written Component

Your manufacturer's contact information including name, address, phone number, and email
Product statement: a description of your product (250-word maximum)

Images

Please submit color images of your completed project, in JPG or JPEG format with a maximum file size of 2MB. You may submit captions to your images, not to exceed 50 words. Take note of the following additional guidelines:

  • Submit 4-6 color images of your product

  • Use numbers to name your image files, in order of uploads (01, 02, 03, etc)
  • Do not reference or include your firm or manufacturer's name/logo in the images

Video (OPTIONAL)

You may submit an optional video that demonstrates the functionality of your product. Videos must be submitted in AVI, MPG, MPEG, 3GP, MOV, or MP4 format with a maximum file size of 50MB and should not exceed 90 seconds.

Categories

Projects must be submitted in one of the categories below. Categories may be renamed, consolidated, or eliminated (and projects reclassified) at the discretion of IIDA and/or the jurors.

  • Accent pieces

  • Amenities (appliances, minibars, safes/locks, operations supplies)
  • Applied Finishes and Materials (laminates stone/marble tile, specialty)
  • Architectural and Building (acoustic/sound awnings, canopies, doors, panels)
  • Bath and Spa (equipment, whirlpool/saunas and fitness/wellness)
  • Fixtures and Hardware (decorative metal plastics hardware)
  • Electronics and Technology (audio/visual, charging stations, apps)
  • Fabrics and Textiles (upholstery and bedspread/drapery/casement fabrics)
  • Flooring (carpet/rugs, hard surfaces, resilients, and specialty)
  • Casegoods and freestanding furniture (individual and group/series collections)
  • Lighting- Individual (fixtures, ceiling fans, lighting devices)
  • Lighting- Group (series and systems)
  • Seating - Individual (dining, lounge, outdoor)
  • Seating - Group (dining, lounge, outdoor)
  • Sustainability (recycled materials, green products)
  • Wallcoverings (paint/coatings, wallpapers)

Judging

A jury of design professionals will review all entries in-person and select the winning design products on the opening day of the 2025 HD Expo + Conference, May 6, 2025. Submissions are judged on excellence in aesthetics, design, creativity, and function as well as the suitability of the design solution to the product challenge and the successful integration of the elements of design. The jury reserves the right not to select a winner from the entries submitted.

Prize

Winners will be announced and celebrated during the 2025 HD Expo + Conference. The Winners’ Celebration will be held at the Expo’s Social Hub, Wednesday 10:00 AM, May 7, 2025. Winners will be featured on IIDA and HD Magazine publications. Winners will also receive official winner’s certificates, coverage, featured on IIDA’s social media accounts, and in an official press release distributed to leading industry outlets and media partners.
