Recognizing a woman who has recently established a commercial interior design or product design business and is making a difference in her profession with a $5,000 cash award.

Eligibility

Woman entrepreneurs with a business or firm specializing in commercial interior design or product design are encouraged to apply for the Anna Hernandez/Luna Textiles Award. The firm must have been in existence for a minimum of one (1) year and no more than seven (7) years as of January 1, 2026.

Guidelines

Submission Requirements

All applications must be completed electronically. No hard copy applications will be accepted. If any of the following items are missing, your application will not be reviewed. Any additional materials will be removed and not considered.

Written Component

  • Statement describing the purpose and mission of your firm or business, maximum 200 words

  • Statement of your involvement with, and contributions to the commercial interior design profession, maximum 200 words
  • Statement describing how you would utilize the monetary award to support your business, maximum 200 words

Video Component

  • A brief 3-5 minute video in which you, in your own words, describe your firm and your approach to success.

  • Please include a description on the progress and growth of your firm since inception, your experience as an entrepreneur in the design industry, and details on how you approach mentoring aspiring designers and emerging professionals.

Letters of Recommendation

Two (2) separate letters of recommendation in PDF file format and saved individually must be included. We suggest that each of these letters represent a different peer or voice from your time in the industry. These could be previous employers, past business associates, current peers, a vendor or company you’ve worked closely with, educators, or mentors.

Judging

The IIDA Foundation Board of Trustees and a select panel of IIDA design and industry professionals will review the applications and select the recipient(s).

Award

One recipient will receive a $5,000 award and round-trip airfare and hotel stay in Chicago where they will be recognized in-person at the IIDA Annual Meeting, the Sunday prior to NeoCon. The recipient will also receive official digital assets, a mention on IIDA’s website, and recognition on IIDA social media channels.
