IIDA Announces the Best of Competition Winner For the 10th Annual Latin America Design Awards

CHICAGO—The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is pleased to announce Sordo Madelano as the Best of Competition Winner for the 10th annual Latin America Design Awards for their work on Ling Ling in Mexico City. The award recognizes outstanding work on interior design/interior architecture projects that represent the highest level of creativity, originality, and design excellence in the Latin America and Caribbean regions.

“This is a standout, stunning space in a city brimming with creativity,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO, Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “The Sordo Madelano team fuses rich cultural heritage while intriguingly blending in a fun yet refined use of modern materiality.”

Entries were juried by a panel of design professionals, including Jones Lang Lasalle (JLL) Vice President, Project and Development Services, Ronnie Belizaire, FIIDA; Collins Cooper Carusi Partner, Fiona Grandowski, IIDA, AIA; and Hickok Cole Associate Principal and Director of Interiors, Mike Johnson II, IIDA, AIA, NOMA.

“With an emphasis on bringing nature indoors, this project interweaves a spectrum of textures in a captivating setting with a serene and tranquil ambiance,” said Grandowski on behalf of the jury. “We congratulate Sordo Madelano for their inventive, memorable design.”

The LADA Best of Competition winner will be celebrated digitally with IIDA’s more than 400,000 social media followers and is featured in IIDA’s bi-monthly subscriber competition newsletter, Designed for Excellence.
