CHICAGO — IIDA and the American Library Association (ALA) are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2024 Library Interior Design Awards. This biennial competition recognizes excellence in library interior design and promotes examples of extraordinary design reflected through innovative concepts in seven categories.
“This competition celebrates the unique challenge of designing an essential yet diversified community space which fosters education and inspiration,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO, Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “These winning designs can influence the future of public and academic spaces. Through their work they underscore the importance of cultivating an environment where knowledge, empowerment, and human connection convene.”
Entries were reviewed by a committee of interior design and library professionals: Mahlum Architects Associate Principal, Stacey Crumbaker, IIDA Assoc., AIA; Boone County (KY) Public Library Executive Director, Carrie Herrmann; and Luminaut Market Leader, Erin Jennings, IIDA, AIA.
"This year's competition presented us with exciting and innovative submissions that took library design to new heights,” said Crumbaker on behalf of the jury. “We are honored to recognize these winners for their dedication to creating these centers of enrichment. The teams behind the winning projects excel at creating a distinct look and feel that fulfills the needs of the community it serves.”
