Press Room

CHICAGO — International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is excited to announce the Transformation and Innovation Award winner and the Best of Competition winner for the 2025 IIDA Healthcare Design Awards. This year’s Best of Competition winner is EwingCole for the City of Hope – Hope Plaza (Duarte, CA). The Transformation and Innovation Award winner is IA Interior Architects for the North East Medical Services (NEMS) – PACE San Jose Center (San Jose, CA).

The IIDA Healthcare Design Awards recognize firms for the creative design of healthcare facilities across 15 categories within Ambulatory, Extended Care and Assisted Living Facilities, and Hospitals. In addition to the above awards, IA Interior Architects and EwingCole were named category winners for their respective projects including Extended Care & Assisted Living Facilities – Long-term Care; and Ambulatory – Cancer Center.

“These firms are exemplary in their creativity and execution ultimately showing the world what these awards represent,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO, Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “These innovative designs incorporate technical needs, promote wellness and healing, and showcase an excellent viewpoint on what the future of healthcare not only looks like but feels like.”

Projects were reviewed by a panel of healthcare design professionals, including Corgan Associate Principal and Studio Design Director, Brent Capron, IIDA, AIA; Kahler Slater Associate Principal and Interior Design Team Leader, Katy Frey, IIDA; and Stengel Hill Director of Interior Design, Lindsey Stemle, IIDA.

“These projects embody thoughtful, uplifting design at its finest,” Capron said on behalf of the jury. “From the ethereal reuse of a windowless building to the celebration of color, art, and texture that inspires hope and delight, both reflect a profound sensitivity to people and place.”

All winners were announced and honored during a celebration at IIDA Headquarters in Chicago on November 13. All winning projects can be viewed on IIDA.org. For questions in regard to this or other IIDA design competitions, please contact competitions@IIDA.org.
