Guidelines

Competition Guidelines

Submission Requirements

All submissions must be completed electronically. No hard copy submissions will be accepted. To enter a project into this competition, you will need to prepare and submit the following:

Written Component

  • Your manufacturer's contact information including name, address, phone number, and email
  • Product statement: a description of your product (250-word maximum)

Images

Please submit color images of your completed project, in JPG or JPEG format with a maximum file size of 2MB. You may submit captions to your images, not to exceed 50 words. Take note of the following additional guidelines:

  • Submit 4-6 color images of your product
  • Use numbers to name your image files, in order of uploads (01, 02, 03, etc)
  • Do not reference or include your firm or manufacturer's name/logo in the images

Video (OPTIONAL)

You may submit an optional video that demonstrates the functionality of your product. Videos must be submitted in AVI, MPG, MPEG, 3GP, MOV, or MP4 format with a maximum file size of 50MB and should not exceed 90 seconds.

Categories

Projects must be submitted in one of the categories below. Categories may be renamed, consolidated, or eliminated (and projects reclassified) at the discretion of IIDA and/or the jurors.

    • Amenities and Appliances (Bath and Kitchen)
    • Applied Finishes and Materials (Laminates, Stone, Tile, Specialty)
    • Electronics and Technology
    • Fabrics + Textiles (Upholstery and Bedspread, Drapery, Casement)
    • Fixtures and Hardware (Decorative Metals, Plastics)
    • Flooring (Rug/Carpet, and Hard Surfaces, Resilients, Specialty)
    • Hand-made Products (Indoor and Outdoor)
    • Indoor Freestanding Furniture/Casegoods (Individual and Group/Series )
    • Outdoor Freestanding Furniture/Casegoods (Individual and Group/Series)
    • Lighting (Individual Fixtures/Ceiling Fans/Devices and Group/Series)
    • Seating (Indoor Individual and Group/Series)
    • Seating (Outdoor Individual and Group/Series)
    • Sustainability (Eco-Friendly Products)
    • Wall Treatments (Paints/Coatings and Wallpaper)

Judging

A jury of design professionals will select the winning designs on November 20th, 2025. The jury will review all entries in person and select the winning Product designs and the Best of Competition. Submissions are judged on excellence in aesthetics, design, creativity, and function, as well as the suitability of the design solution to the product challenge and the successful integration of the elements of design. The jury reserves the right not to select a winner from the entries submitted.

Prize

Winners and Best of Competition will be announced and celebrated during the 2025 WestEdge Design Fair in Los Angeles, on November 20th during the Opening Night Party. Winners will be featured on iida.org and in WestEdge Design Fair publications. Winners will also receive official winner’s certificates and be featured on IIDA’s social media accounts and in an official press release distributed to leading industry outlets and media partners.
