CHICAGO (June 29, 2026) — The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and the American Library Association (ALA) are pleased to announce the Best of Competition winner of the 2026 ALA/IIDA Library Interior Design Awards, recognizing excellence in library interior design. The 2026 ALA/IIDA Library Interior Design Awards Best of Competition winner is Lake Flato Architects for their design of the Cedar Park Public Library in Cedar Park, Texas.

Interior Design Advocates in Alaska Celebrate Historic Legislation Advancing Health, Safety and Welfare of the Public.

Juneau, Alaska (June 22, 2026) – Alaska has become the 31st state and 33rd U.S. jurisdiction to institute reasonable regulation of the interior design profession. House Bill (HB) 314 was passed by the Legislature on June 4, 2026, and became law on June 19, 2026. HB 314 creates a protected title for qualified interior designers and grants them the authority to stamp interior design plans for nonstructural, nonseismic interior construction projects, reinforcing the essential role of interior designers and helping ensure the health, safety, and welfare of public building occupants.

CHICAGO (June 9, 2026) — The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) proudly announces the winners of the 2026 IIDA Showroom and Booth Design Competition, honored for their originality of design, visual impact, and effective use of materials. Criteria for the annual competition are based on the outstanding use of space, color, texture, lighting, and graphics in showrooms and booth spaces at The Mart and Fulton Market District.

This biennial competition, celebrating its 10th edition, recognizes excellence in library interior design and promotes examples of extraordinary design reflected through innovative concepts in nine entry categories.

CHICAGO (May 18, 2026) — IIDA is pleased to announce the recipients of its annual Of the Year Awards, which recognize members demonstrating outstanding commitment, passion, professionalism, and dedication to IIDA and the design community. This year’s Educator of the Year is University of Florida Assistant Professor of Interior Design Lisa Sundahl Platt, IIDA, RID. The 2026 Member of the Year is Integrus Architecture Interior Designer, Senior Associate Megan Onley, IIDA. The 2026 Student of the Year, sponsored by OFS, is San José State University Interior Design Graduate, Leta Pham, Student IIDA.

The all-woman group receives IIDA’s highest professional member distinction

AIA, of the IIDA South Florida chapter; Gensler Design Manager, Amie Keener, FIIDA, RID, of the IIDA Texas/Oklahoma chapter; and HDR Global Design Director, Interiors, Lois Wellwood, FIIDA, LID of the IIDA Illinois chapter.
