IIDA College of Fellows
AwardsInduction into the College of Fellows is the highest and most prestigious honor IIDA bestows. Inductees are IIDA members who demonstrate outstanding professional achievements and exceptional leadership in the interior design community, and whom have made extraordinary impacts and contributions to the interior design profession and industry. Candidates must exemplify the highest level of ethical conduct, leadership, and professionalism as stated in the IIDA Code of Ethics.
IIDA Fellows impact the future of design by serving as mentors and implementing educational programs, as well as being involved in other important initiatives that reflect positively on interior design and the association.

- Robert Norwood, FIIDA, interior design practice firm leader at NBBJ, has a diverse background in hospitality, corporate, commercial, healthcare, science has honed his ability to understand unique project needs. The spaces and experiences he and his team creates contribute to the fabric of our culture and communities, and the quality of human performance, encounters, and engagement. His empathetic approach combined with his pursuit of unconventional problem solving makes him an excellent client advocate and admired team leader. His work and passion assures that as an industry, we are sharing our wisdom, learnings, and most successful examples of how to promote design, articulate relevant functional forms and beauty is a vital part of supporting and enhancing the profession and IIDA.

Abby Scott, FIIDA
- Abby Scott, FIIDA, interior design principal at HDR is an award-winning interior designer with a unique talent for leading and fostering long-lasting client relationships to create memorable and inspiring environments. She is also the Vice President for IIDA’s 2023-2024 International Board of Directors and served as President of the IIDA Great Plains Chapter in 2013. With over 21 years of experience, Scott has cultivated a deep knowledge of strategic vision programming for diverse spaces ranging from technically complex healthcare environments to innovative global headquarter buildings and culturally iconic libraries and museums. Her creative, hands-on leadership style and enthusiasm create high-performing teams that elevate HDR’s design caliber in the region and beyond. An advocate for design and mentorship, Scott is an active member of professional organizations, including IIDA, AIA, Women in Healthcare (WIH), and Commercial Real Estate Women Network (CREW).

Kevin Sneed, FIIDA, FAIA
- Kevin Sneed, FIIDA, is a senior principal and senior director of architecture at OTJ Architects. With more than 35 years of experience, he has worked in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area, first in the base building industry and later in commercial interior design. Part of his responsibility at his firm is to create its practice management and professional development programs. Sneed is an influential leader and advocate establishing programs such as Workplace Mentorship and the Licensure Initiative which helped spark his creation of his firm's scholarship program for Black/African-American designers towards licensure in interior design and architecture. His commitment to advancing interior design is evident in his ongoing service as a member of the Interior Design and Architect Boards for his state and an advisory board member for one of the local university design schools.

Lisa Marie Tucker, FIIDA
- Lisa Marie Tucker, FIIDA, Ph.D, is a certified interior designer and registered architect with over 20 years of professional experience in sustainability and historic preservation. She holds degrees in architecture and architectural history from the University of Virginia and a Ph.D from the University of Missouri—Columbia in architectural studies. She is the department head of apparel, housing, and resource management and a professor at Virginia Tech teaching upper-level design studios and historic preservation. Dr. Tucker has an extensive research portfolio and has written and published seven books and numerous journal articles on design focusing on sustainability, preservation, and the small house. She has won multiple teaching awards including being listed as one of the "Top 20 Most Admired Design Educators" by DesignIntelligence in 2010, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Koreen Pelot, FIIDA
- Koreen Pelot, FIIDA, has 18 years of experience as a sales professional in the interior design industry. As an Account Manager with Shaw Contract, she combines her passion for bringing people together with a company that strives to create a better, fairer future for all. She joined IIDA WI as a young designer and has spent her career supporting the organization in multiple board positions throughout the years. She has worked alongside friends and colleagues to grow the chapter, create unique events, and also started a scholarship program that has awarded over $110,000 to students pursuing their design degrees in Wisconsin. Pelot has mentored and assisted the design communityand held some incredible positions throughout her career and in the organization, the title of “mom” is her favorite.

- As a Principal and Design Director with over 30 years of experience, Stefanie Shunk, FIIDA, is a creative force known for fostering design innovation to propel her clients into the future. Focusing on technology, media, consumer goods, and financial services, she creates dynamic interiors that reflect a company’s core vision and values through close collaboration with her clients and her project teams designing purpose-driven, technology-rich, and hospitality-forward experiences that transform their business and culture. She is dedicated to investing in her team's development and founded Gensler Northeast Region’s Design Leadership Program to grow the next generation of design leadership. She passionately advocates and advances Gensler’s GC3 initiatives toward carbon neutrality and a more sustainable and resilient future.

Jean Anderson, FIIDA
- Jean Anderson co-leads Gensler's Global Design Synergy Community and is a Design Principal in the New York office. She is focused on design excellence, working across the organization to ensure its designs continue to push the boundaries of impact, innovation, and experience. Anderson is a leading force in Gensler's commitment to achieve carbon neutrality in all its projects by 2030. As co-chair of the Gensler Global Race and Diversity Committee, she is also helping the firm create more opportunities in the design industry for minority communities and underserved youth. Working with recognizable consumer companies, Anderson knows how to balance great design with strategic solutions that help them realize their vision, inspire their culture, and celebrate their brand.

Susana Covarrubias, FIIDA
- After receiving an architecture-focused education and beginning her design career in Chile, Gensler Studio Director and former IIDA International Board President, Susana Covarrubias, now resides in the U.S. where she leads various projects and programs. With a wide breadth of experience and an eye towards global collaboration, Covarrubias brings her passions for inclusivity and equity to each physical space she designs. Inspired by women throughout her life, Covarrubias offers consultation and assistance to other females in the industry, particularly young women seeking pathways to success. In her many leadership positions at Gensler and a successful tenure as the IIDA International Board President, Covarrubias has proven herself to be a force of innovation in the industry and beyond.

- Eileen Jones is a Design Principal and the Branded Environments Global Practice Leader at Perkins&Will. For more than 40 years, she has crafted design solutions that capture the hearts and minds of her clients, building emotional bonds with place, and strengthening brand value. Her leadership in creative problem solving, research, and strategic thinking has positioned her and her teams for award-winning solutions and world-wide recognition. Working across all practice areas and around the globe, Jones’s work is diverse and uniquely reflects the character, culture, and brand of each individual client. She is a vocal advocate for design excellence across many design disciplines, a courageous proponent of an interdisciplinary team philosophy, and passionate about the education of future designers.

- Principal and Director of Interior Architecture at Elkus Manfredi Architects, Elizabeth Lowrey, has been responsible for the firm’s interior architecture practice since its founding. Interior Design includes her on a list of “20 Inspiring Women who make up the new face of the design industry.” Boston Magazine once again names her among the 100 Most Influential Bostonians writing, “…as companies reimagine workspaces, there is perhaps no one more sought after. Sophisticated, savvy, and creative, her approach will no doubt shape the look of our city in the future.” Her clients include Walt Disney Imagineering, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Publicis Groupe, New Balance, Citizens Bank, and Harvard University. Lowrey is a guest columnist for Fast Company, Commercial Observer, Work Design Magazine and Banker & Tradesman.

Erika Moody, FIIDA
- As President of Helix Architecture + Design, Erika Moody’s work prioritizes both form and function in the pursuit of her clients’ business, wellness, and culture goals. After a successful tenure as Principal of an international design firm, Moody formed her own design studio which later merged with Helix. Since then, Moody has played a key role in the firm’s increased revenue year-over-year and its industry recognition for detail-oriented design and client-focused service practices. As a Vice President on the IIDA International Board, the recipient of the 2017 IIDA Mid-America chapter Vision Award, and a member of industry-adjacent boards at multiple universities, Moody’s commitment to excellence extends far beyond her own firm and into the future of the industry on a global scale.

Brett Shwery, FIIDA
- Senior Vice President and Interior Design Director, Americas of AECOM Brett Shwery’s body of work is grounded in storytelling and his belief in design as an intersection of possibility, vision, and execution across disciplines and industries. After years working with some of the world’s leading firms, Shwery’s commitment to people-centered design and passion for an integrated approach allow him to lead at AECOM and beyond with creativity and mentorship in mind. In 2018, Shwery received ANEW Foundations’ national Stewardship Champion Award for dedication to social and environmental sustainability in the industry, further exemplifying his commitment globally to the power of design backed by intentionality and innovation.

Ronnie Belizaire, FIIDA
- Ronnie Belizaire blends both business acumen and design expertise as corporate real estate manager for Daimler, helping to guide the company’s organizational goals for its various business entities through the strategic positioning of corporate real estate assets in the Americas. Belizaire is an experienced project manager and designer with more than five million square feet of architectural, interiors, and industrial projects managed and delivered during her 15-year career. She is a dedicated IIDA volunteer whose previous service includes IIDA Georgia Chapter President from 2013-2014 and IIDA Foundation Chair from 2017-2019. Professionally, Belizaire has completed projects for numerous clients, including well-known Fortune 500 companies, helping them transform their organizations through the built environment.

Jennifer Graham, FIIDA
- For more than 30 years, Jennifer Graham’s success has come from her unique approach of incorporating mentorship into project management. As a bold champion for DEI, social purpose, and sustainability, Graham brings these issues to the forefront in her client work and community service as a principal at Perkins+Will, a renowned architecture and design firm. In 2009, she founded LMNOP NYC, Inc., an organization offering networking and affordable continuing education credits to designers. Following LMNOP’s acquisition by the IIDA NY Chapter, Graham became IIDA NY’s vice president of action and 2021 catalyst chair. Native to Barbados, the influence of Graham’s family is evident in everything she does; from fulfilling her father’s own dream of working in architecture to epitomizing the resolve and relentless pursuit of knowledge passed on through her grandmother. Her character and record demonstrate her advocacy and commitment to both the design and global communities.

Catherine Heath, FIIDA
- Catherine Heath is a seasoned architect and designer with significant accomplishments in design and workplace strategy in her 30-year career. A prominent leader in the Washington, D.C. real estate community, Heath has been fortunate to work under the direction of outstanding mentors who have influenced her approach to design. She recognizes the importance of mentorship in the development of the next generation of design talent and has established a mentorship program at her own firm, in addition to serving as a mentor to several students. As a practice leader, she has built a studio of 22 talented designers with an impressive portfolio of completed works at HYL Architecture. In just six years, her firm has designed more than 100 projects in 25 cities internationally, and regularly competes with top firms globally.

Angie Lee, FIIDA
- Angie Lee leads an award-winning interiors practice, providing strategic vision and oversight for interior environments across a wide range of scales in both commercial and residential project types. With over 28 years of experience, Lee uses a multifaceted approach that integrates emotional design narrative, technical precision, and artistic intuition in her work. Born in Seoul, Korea, and raised in the Midwest by parents who promoted science and music, Lee continues to meld art and technology in her approach to architecture and interior design. Committed to an inclusive philosophy of design, Angie is a registered architect in New York, and is Vice President, Head of Interior Design at Pembroke.

EJ Lee, FIIDA
- As a Design Director at Gensler, Lee is continually finding innovative and inspirational solutions that add value to the spaces she designs. For nearly 30 years, she has worked with a multitude of space types for some of the world’s most influential companies in finance, media, publishing, retail, and commercial development. With an elegant and timeless design approach, Lee provides long-lasting value to each of her clients which include Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank, New York Times, Nomura, and the American Kennel Club. She brings a sense of humanity for highly complex and multi-disciplinary organizations and has a passion for collaboration and engagement to deliver memorable design work which has been featured in prominent global publications. Lee has worked as an associate professor at Pratt Institute and continues to mentor young talent, exemplifying her dedication to shaping the next generation of designers.

Karen Muraoka, FIIDA
- Karen Muraoka began her design career in 1982 at Architects Hawaii Ltd. in Honolulu and continued there until she opened her own firm, Karen Muraoka Interior Design, specializing in healthcare design in 2011. She then moved to Japan, working with a large and innovative medical center group, that gave Muraoka the freedom and encouragement to explore new avenues of healthcare design. Now back in Hawaii, Muraoka continues to run her practice, while also participating as a frequent juror at both NeoCon and healthcare design conferences. She has been involved with IIDA since 2001, having grown as a leader, receiving the 2019 Legacy Award from the IIDA Hawaii Pacific Chapter, furthering her a pathway to share her passion with other aspiring designers.

Ana Pinto-Alexander, FIIDA
- Ana Pinto-Alexander is principal and director of HKS’ global health practice, ranked among the top five by Modern Healthcare, where she provides leadership as an instrumental member of the firm’s Leadership Council, driving strategic vision and planning. With more than 36 years of experience, Pinto-Alexander’s devotion to evidence-informed design has anchored her belief that holistic healing environments improve the experience for the patients, families, and staff. Pinto-Alexander’s childhood in Colombia and extensive international travel have influenced a unique design perspective based on research and empathy. Pinto Alexander’s interior design firm of 22 employees, Maregatti Interiors, was acquired by HKS in 2011. In 2009, she was recognized as one of the “25 Most Influential People in Healthcare Design” by Healthcare Design magazine and in 2020 she received the HiP Healthcare Award from Interior Design magazine.

Kay Sargent, FIIDA
- Kay Sargent has more than 35 years of experience and is an award-winning designer who has worked with several Fortune 500 companies to optimize their global real estate portfolios and create innovative work environments based on their unique organizational DNA. As Co-Director of HOK’s workplace team, a practice that supports organizations undertaking multiple projects in various locations, and a member of HOK’s Board of Directors, Sargent is responsible for helping clients redefine how, when, and where their people work. Prior to joining HOK, Sargent served as director of workplace strategies for Lendlease; VP of A&D and workplace strategies for Teknion; and as a principal for interior architects in Washington, D.C. Sargent currently serves on the AVIXA Board of Directors; the National ASID Foundation Research Taskforce, the IWBI Mind Advisory Team, the Advisory Board for WorkDesign Magazine, and was recently appointed to the George Washington University Customer Experience Certificate Program Advisory Council.

Mavis Wiggins, FIIDA
- Mavis Wiggins has more than 30 years of experience as an interior designer and team leader. During her tenure, she has developed a large and multi-faceted workplace portfolio with an emphasis in financial services. Wiggins believes that understanding nuance is the key to properly caring for each client and draws upon her experience and evolving vision to design successful spaces that create better experiences for those who use them. As managing executive and studio creative director at TPG Architecture, she articulates a client’s unstated goals, ensuring the completed design reflects their unique ideal. In 2018, she was recognized as an honoree at the IIDA Leaders Breakfast in New York.

Dr. Carol Bentel, FAIA, FIIDA, ASID
- Dr. Carol Bentel is a partner at Bentel & Bentel Architects/Planners and Chair of the BFA Interior Design: Built Environments department at the School of Visual Arts (SVA). Dr. Bentel is a Fulbright Fellow, a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome, and a Fellow of the AIA College of Fellows. She was the 2008 Chair of the AIA National Committee on Design and is Vice-Chair of the NYS Preservation League. Dr. Bentel is a Hospitality Design Platinum Circle Honoree, and a three-time recipient of the James Beard Award for restaurant design, also receiving other national awards from AIA, SARA, and IIDA. Her work can be found in Built by Women NYC. Dr. Bentel has served on the faculty of SVA, the New York Institute of Technology, Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Georgia Tech, and the New York City College of Technology. She received her Ph.D. in History, Theory and Criticism from the Department of Architecture at MIT. She also co-authored Nourishing the Senses: Restaurant Architecture of Bentel & Bentel.

Bill Bouchey, FIIDA, ASID
- Bill Bouchey recently relocated to HOK’s Los Angeles studio from New York and is taking on a bicoastal role to lead clients and team relationships in both cities. He has nearly 30 years of experience as a thought leader in workplace, showroom, and retail environments, with an emphasis on innovation and brand presence. Bouchey guides clients collaboratively in creating a sense of place and a commitment to concept-based design excellence. His design sense is driven by the belief that interior design empowers people and transforms organizations. His work has won numerous honors and earned extensive coverage within design media. He serves on the editorial advisory board of Contract and is a frequent editorial contributor and guest speaker on design. His recent interiors projects in New York include offices for Shiseido, Viacom, WPP, Accenture, Apollo Global Management, and Hogarth-Gramercy Studios.

Jordan Goldstein, FIIDA, FAIA
- An award-winning architect, Jordan Goldstein oversees Gensler’s focus on design innovation and project delivery. Throughout his career, Goldstein has led the design of more than 8 million square feet of commercial projects in the United States and abroad. A sought-after spokesperson on the future of design both domestically and globally, Goldstein has been featured in many prominent design publications. In 2015, the Washington Business Journal named him one of the 25 top innovators in Washington, D.C., and has regularly included him on its list of the 100 most influential leaders in that market. An advocate of helping the next generation of designers prepare for tomorrow, Goldstein has frequently taught a course on design at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a master's degree in architecture and has been the Kea Professor at the University of Maryland, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Architecture.

James Kerrigan, FIIDA
- As a Global Interiors Design Principal with Jacobs, James Kerrigan has extensive national and international experience influencing and informing design for high performing workplaces. In his role, he provides solutions focused on placemaking, choice, and experience in an era where work environments are increasingly optional and distributed work is increasing. Fostering critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative approaches amongst distributed teams are his areas of focus. Kerrigan also works with clients and teams to reinvent workplace design to respond to the rapid changes we face as technology and the way people use and engage in space shift profoundly. He and his Jacobs team make the world smarter, more connected, and more sustainable and aim higher to provide solutions using knowledge-driven design, integrating experience and performance data to provide engaging spaces with measurable outcomes.

David Meckley, FIIDA
- David Meckley views the designer’s role as universally transformative. Curiosity, paired with a passion for dynamic design and pragmatism for spatial organization, are the driving forces of his career. By striving to discover untapped design opportunities—inventive ways to achieve a client’s business objectives, unique use of materials, improving sustainability, or enhancing wellbeing—Meckley capitalizes on the power of interior spaces to elevate the human experience. A William Bridges Institute Certified Transition Manager, he effectively leads and guides clients through the changes inherent to any design project. His approach to visioning with clients is to identify key project drivers that generate the foundation towards innovative and creative design solutions. Utilizing his more than 35 years of experience, he has led the development of workplace strategies and assisted notable companies including Uber, McKesson, Google, Delta Dental, Kaiser Permanente, and Autodesk in adapting to today’s dynamic business environment.

Only Professional Members in good standing may apply for Fellowship and eligible candidates must be members of IIDA for at least five (5) consecutive years. Candidates must exemplify the highest level of ethical conduct, leadership, and professionalism as stated in the IIDA Code of Ethics.
