IIDA Design Competitions showcase leading interior design and interior architecture projects to the IIDA community and a global audience. We believe in providing exposure to the innovative and talented design community—and are proud to celebrate their impressive design accomplishments!
With 12 distinct IIDA annual and biennial design competitions that have a wide range of design categories, design teams and firms of all sizes can participate for the opportunity to be honored on a global scale. Winning projects are celebrated on IIDA.org through articles and galleries, and promoted in newsletters and social media.

IIDA Interior Design Competition
Open annually December - February
This annual award honors achievements in outstanding interior architecture and design that encourages and uses innovative interior design ideas, techniques, and furnishings across 14 categories. Open to participants and projects world-wide, any interior designer or interior architect may submit design project(s). This competition is open to participants worldwide. Winning projects are promoted across IIDA platforms, featured in Interior Design media, and celebrated at IIDA’s annual black-tie event, Revel, where the Best of Competition is revealed live. IIDA Will Ching Design Competition
Open annually December - February
Honoring originality and excellence in commercial design from firms with ten (10) or fewer employees. Any interior designer or interior architect working in a firm with ten (10) or fewer employees is eligible to enter. This competition is open to participants and projects worldwide. The winning project is promoted across IIDA platforms, through Interior Design media, and celebrated at IIDA’s annual black-tie event, Revel! Learn more
IIDA Student Design Competition
Open annually January - February
Honoring the talent and innovative thinking of interior design students and showcases emerging professionals in the interior design industry. This competition is open to graduate and undergraduate students around the world who are currently enrolled in an interior design or architecture program at time of submission. School projects already completed may be reinterpreted and/or edited to meet the requirements of this competition. If the school project was completed as a group, all members must agree in writing to enter the reinterpreted and/or edited project, and all members must be listed as participants on the entry form. Participants can enter individually, or as a team with a maximum of five (5) team members. Winners earn cash prizes, sponsored by OFS and Carolina, and published on IIDA.org, and featured across all IIDA platforms. Prior to the competition opening, IIDA publishes the design problem annually for educators and students in August. Learn more
IIDA HD EXPO Product Design Awards
Open annually January - April
Honoring innovation, environmental functionality, function, and aesthetic or technical advancements in the hospitality industry across 21 categories. Any product manufacturers exhibiting at HD Expo + Conference may submit product designs. Products must be displayed at HD Expo + Conference and intended for the hospitality environment to be considered eligible for entry. Products are evaluated and awarded in person during the expo. Winners are celebrated across IIDA platforms and are featured in Hospitality Design magazine. Learn more
ALA (American Library Association)/IIDA Library Interior Design Awards
Open biennially in even years, January - April
This biennial competition occurs every even numbered year and honors excellence in library interior design, and promotes examples of extraordinary design reflected through innovative concepts across nine (9)categories. Any interior designer, interior architect, or architect may submit design project(s). Projects must be library interior design projects. Additionally, library projects in the design phase are welcome to submit to the “On the Boards” category. Winner’s are awarded in-person at the Annual ALA Conference, published in American Libraries magazine, and featured across all IIDA platforms. Learn more
IIDA Showroom and Booth Design Competition
Opens annually March - June
Honoring originality of design and visual impact of showrooms and booths at NeoCon, emphasizing use of materials, space, color, texture, lighting, and graphics. Any permanent showrooms at THE MART and/or current exhibition booths at NeoCon are eligible for entry. Showrooms and booths are evaluated and awarded on-site, and winners are published on IIDA.org and across all IIDA platforms. Learn more
IIDA Latin America Design Awards
Opens annually March - April
Honoring design excellence in interior design and interior architecture projects representing achievement in creativity and innovation across 18 categories. Any interior designer, interior architect, or architect may submit design project(s). Firms may be based anywhere, however projects must be located in Latin America or the Caribbean. Winners are awarded at IIDA Headquarters, published across IIDA platforms, and receive digital assets for self-promotion. Learn more
IIDA Healthcare Design Awards
Open annually July - September
Honoring excellence and originality in healthcare interior design that is exemplary of extraordinary innovations in design concepts across 14 categories. Any interior designer, interior architect, or architect may submit design project(s). Projects must be healthcare interior design projects. All project submissions are eligible for the Transformation and Innovation Award, which recognizes a project that is leading the industry and advancing healthcare outcomes. Winners are celebrated at IIDA Headquarters in Chicago, and featured across all IIDA media platforms and channels. Learn more
IIDA/WestEdge Design Fair Booth Awards
Open annually July-October
Honoring originality of design and visual impact of booths at WestEdge Design Fair Los Angeles, emphasizing use of materials, space, color, texture, lighting, and graphics. Any design manufacturers exhibiting at the WestEdge Design Fair in Los Angeles may submit their booth design. Booth designs are evaluated and awarded in person at the WestEdge Design Fair. Winners will be featured on IIDA.org and in WestEdge Design Fair publications, receive official winner’s assets, be featured on IIDA’s and WestEdge's social media accounts, and in an official press release distributed to leading industry outlets and media partners. Honoring outstanding creativity and design in interior design and interior architecture projects based in Asian Pacific countries across 15 categories. Any interior designer or interior architect may submit design project(s). The competition is open to participants worldwide, however projects must be located in the Asia Pacific region. Honoring excellence in originality and creativity in international interior design and interior architecture projects across 15 categories. Any interior designer, interior architect, or architect may submit design project(s). Projects must be located outside of the United States. The submitting designer/design firm may be based anywhere, including the United States. Finalists and winning design firms are celebrated in Paris, published on IIDA.org and all IIDA platforms, and receive award assets for self-promotion. Learn more
